Double R Bison Ranch was born from a deep respect for one of North America’s most powerful and enduring animals — the American buffalo. What started in 1984 with just eight cows and two bulls from the Northwest Territories has grown into a thriving herd right here in Roseneath, Ontario.

Founded by Rio and Linda Reimann, the ranch was built through hard work, patience, and genuine admiration for the strength and spirit of the bison. These animals aren’t domesticated — they’re wild, fast, and fiercely independent. They don’t live in barns. They live the way nature intended — free on open pasture, roaming the land as they’ve done for thousands of years.

Our herd represents more than just sustainable farming — it’s a dedication to doing things right. Bison live long, thrive naturally, and produce meat that’s lean, rich, and nutrient-dense — a clean alternative for those who care about what they eat. The result? A premium, 100% grass-fed product that delivers bold flavor with a fraction of the fat and cholesterol found in traditional beef.

From the challenges of rounding up escaped buffalo in a snowstorm to learning firsthand that these animals can outrun a racehorse, our journey hasn’t been easy — but it’s been real. Every step has strengthened our commitment to raising pure American bison with respect and integrity.

Today, Double R Bison Ranch is owned and operated by daughter Ria Reimann, continues to grow, supplying high-quality bison meat to health-conscious customers and selling breeding stock across Ontario and beyond.
